All the signs were there. First, being told that I snored – really? I didn’t hear it…. Second, after being up from my nightly ‘sleep’ I would sit in my chair to read or study and promptly fall asleep, only to wake-up between one to two hours later. Of course, many times that would make me late for an appointment. Third, and the most telling and serious of the lot was the fight to stay awake when driving a longer distance or drifting-off briefly at a stop light in the city.

Yes, it was time for me to embrace the ‘dreaded’ C-PAP! Surprisingly it really didn’t take me long to adjust to the mask.

My fear was that the mask would block my breathing since I am a ‘head out of the covers’ sleeper. But my fears were unfounded since the air coming through the mask was enough to remove any feelings of being smothered. Because I will be doing extensive traveling in the future, I opted to go the Mini-pap route after several months of the regular model. I called the AWAYK Health branch in Laurel, Maryland to inquire about ordering the new machine. Neelam Atit was on the call from the company and I was so touched by her helpfulness, professionalism, kindness and follow through. Since I usually am someone with multiple questions, she answered them with patience and clarity. I want to commend the entire staff from the Cheery Lane office that I have had occasion to interact with, because the same service was afforded to me by all.
