Alessandro Vitale

CEO

Alessandro has held roles in banking with MBNA America Bank and part of the MBNA management development team. Alessandro has raised capital for numerous projects and grew his family hospitality business from startup to generating over $50 million in sales since inception.

Alessandro is developing new business for AWAYK and has secured several multi-million-dollar contracts in the private sector. His experience and expertise in corporate fiscal management was instrumental in the repositioning of AWAYK’s finances. Alessandro understands how AWAYK will continue to financially thrive as the marketplace evolves.

Alessandro serves on the Signal 13 Foundation Board of directors, supporting Baltimore Police Officers. He also serves on the National Skeet Shooting Association Executive Committee and board of directors. In addition, Alessandro is the President of Loch Raven Skeet and Trap Club. Alessandro supports the Ronald McDonald House Charities and Baltimore City School Lunch Programs.

Alessandro graduated from Loyola Blakefield, Stevenson University and The University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business.

Dave Patel

CIO and President

Dave Patel, is a CPA with dynamic combination of medical, business, financial, and technology expertise. Prior to pursuing his dream of being an entrepreneur, Dave acquired his professional experiences from world-class companies such as Deloitte & Touche, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and KPMG. Dave’s success in Fortune 50 companies, Big 4 accounting firms, multi-million-dollar outpatient diagnostics centers and durable medical equipment business ownership allows him to contribute as a key influencer, high-level strategist, and a visionary.

John C. Welch

COO

John Welch is an accomplished healthcare industry executive with 22+ years serving as Chief Operating Officer, President and Principal for two Durable Medical Equipment (DME) companies. John also has an extensive background in software which has allowed him to create unique healthcare solutions by marrying technology to business operations. John’s dynamic entrepreneurial leadership is founded on culture and vision that starts by empowering those around him. His professional experience includes sales generation, operations, revenue management, business strategy and acquisition opportunities.

Justin Minisci

National Program Director

Justin has been in the healthcare business for over 14 years creating innovative sales programs and developing long lasting client relationships. Justin began his career as a field sales representative which allowed him to build important relationships with physicians and hospitals while understanding the business from the ground up. Throughout his time in the healthcare field he’s generated tens of millions of dollars developing contracted programs, new field territories, and building highly successful sales teams. Justin is also very experienced in business analysis and data analytics which has enabled him to make strategic decisions that have led to company growth and profitability.

Dayan Habtemariam

Dayan has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. As a Respiratory Therapist, he also has an extensive background in clinical and patient care. His analytical approach feeds his passion for patient care and technology-driven programs that drive efficiency while optimizing patient outcomes. Additionally, Dayan has extensive experience in accreditation and quality assurance which drives the bar of excellence at AWAYK.

Neelam Atit

Director of Operations and Compliance Officer

Neelam Atit has over twenty years of progressive experience in medical billing, collections, and office management. She managed a billing department of a multi-million dollar medical imaging company. She supervised and reviewed billing of MRI, CT, and PET scans. She has over eighteen years of experience in credentialing and maintaining relationships with Medicare, Medicaid, and all private insurance companies.

As a Billing Director, Neelam negotiates contracts with all health insurance providers, she maintains ongoing relationships with the health insurance providers, and performs billing and collection functions. As a Director of Operations, Neelam has managed the sleep center by training, and supervising the office staff. She manages the Patient Advocacy Program to assure that patients receive quality care. She is responsible for creating and maintaining policies and procedures of the company. She also ensures that the office is in compliance with OSHA, HIPPA, and other applicable regulations.

William Jews

William “Bill” is the former president and CEO of CareFirst Inc., the seventh largest Blue Cross Blue Shield plan with more than $5 billion in annual revenue. Jews led the combined not-for-profit and for-profit entity from 1993 until 2006, serving nearly three million customers, including the nation’s largest federal health program. Previous leadership roles with other major healthcare organizations include serving as president and CEO of both Dimensions Health Corp., from 1990 to 1993, and Liberty Medical Center Inc./Lutheran Health Care Corp., from 1979 to 1990. Jews began his career in the healthcare industry at the University of Maryland Medical System in 1975, ascending to planning director by 1979.

Bill currently serves on the board of directors of several major public corporations. He is a director of CACI International Inc.; CalAtlanticGroup; and KCI Technologies Inc. His prior directorships include SecureNet; Camden Partners; Ecolab Inc.; MBNA; MuniMaeInc.; Maryland National Bank/Nations Bank; Crown Central Petroleum; and Fortress International Group Inc. Jews also served as a governor with the Federal Reserve Bank.

Bill is an investment advisor for Sterling Venture Partners I, LP, a director of the Signal 13 Police Foundation for Baltimore City and a board member of Caves Valley. He has participated in leadership roles with other business, governmental and educational organizations, including the Baltimore County Revenue Authority, the Camden Yards Sports and Entertainment Commission, and the President’s Advisory Board of the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

William H. Watson, III

William Watson’s career stems from over 30 years in finance and has grown to provide pivotal business development strategy and implementation for Collidion, Inc. Mr. Watson has been a registered representative and registered principal with FINRA since the early 1980’s. From 2003 to 2007, he joined Brookstreet Securities as the Vice President of Corporate Finance, where he completed 21 engagements totaling over $250 million of private placements, PIPE transactions, initial public offerings, and secondary offerings for small capitalization growth companies. He has completed an additional $100 million of financing in his career for a variety of other ventures. In addition to financing activities, he also assisted in the assembly of Collidion’s scientific advisory board, interfaced with the board of directors and management, and generated key business development leads with healthcare partners. Since 2013, Mr. Watson has served on the Board of Directors of the National Investment Bankers Association.

Hoji Alimi

Mr. Alimi has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry and has raised more than $170 million in capital throughout his career for different ventures. In 1999, he founded Micromed Laboratories Inc. to assist drug and device companies to navigate FDA and European Conformity (“CE”) mark approval processes. In 2002, Mr. Alimi founded Oculus Innovative Sciences, Inc., a company focused on topical anti-infective drugs as well as device-related applications. As CEO and Chairman, he led the company to successfully complete a randomized, double-blind, controlled phase II trial for improvement or cure of infection in diabetic ulcers. Under his tenure, the company became publicly traded on Nasdaq and achieved dozens of regulatory approvals, including CE marks and 510(K) FDA clearances. In 2012, he founded Ruthigen, Inc. to focus on the development of a drug compound for the reduction of hospital acquired infections during invasive abdominal procedures. As CEO, Chairman and CSO, Ruthigen, Inc. completed an initial public offering and traded on NASDAQ, and later merged with Pulmatrix, a pulmonary-focused pharmaceutical company. Hoji Alimi holds more than 30 patents in areas of anti-infective, surgical, wound care and manufacturing of specific drugs and devices. He received his B.A. in Biology - Sonoma State University 1995

Kevin Cory

Kevin has in-depth experience in financial analysis and investment management while as an analyst and portfolio manager at Gabelli & Company, Ferris Baker Watts, Deutsche Banc Alex Brown and Joseph Cory Holdings, LLC. He brings a balance of operational and financial management providing Awayk with guidance in many areas of AWAYK’s business. Kevin serves on several boards.
